Biography

Dr. Suzette E. Sutherland joined the Metro Urology in August of 2004. She completed her medical degree and urologic training at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine / University Hospital of Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Sutherland has gained further specialty training in female urology to include urinary incontinence and voiding dysfunction, urodynamics, neuromodulation, pelvic prolapse and reconstructive surgery, and female sexual dysfunction from the Center for Continence Care in St. Paul, MN, under the direction of Drs. Steven Siegel and from the Institute for Sexual Medicine in Boston, MA, with Dr. Irwin Goldstein. She has made contributions to the medical literature in the form of presentations, papers and book chapters on incontinence, pelvic prolapse and sexual dysfunction, and remains active in associated clinical research in order to provide her patients with innovative, up-to-date options for treatment.

Dr. Sutherland is active within both her community and the medical community; serving on the Minnesota Urologic Society Board since 2008and the College of Saint Benedict Alumnae Board since 2007. Dr. Sutherland also is an active participant in the Fellowship Training of young urologists through Metro Urology’s Fellowship for incontinence and voiding dysfunction, as well as through the Mayo Urogynecology Fellowship program.

In 2009 Dr. Sutherland received the Distinguished Alumna Award from the College of Saint Benedict due to her work within the community as well as her leadership in the field of female urology.

In 2010, 2009, 2008, and 2007 Dr. Sutherland was named as a “Top Doctor for Women” in Minnesota Monthly Magazine’s Best Doctors for Women Issue.
