AIRDATES: Lifetime Television: 5/24, 5/31 (6am Central Time) &  6/14  (6 am Central Time)

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) began the reconstruction of I-494, beginning south of Lake Road and extending to I-94, in 2009. Construction is expected to resume beginning mid-April, with substantial completion by July 2010.

Through this project, the existing auxiliary lanes between interchanges will be connected, providing three continuous lanes for traffic on I-494 in each direction south of I-94. New concrete pavement will be installed over the existing pavement, and the southbound I-494 bridge over Century Avenue has been widened. Freeway lighting north of Valley Creek Road will be added, providing continuous lighting on I-494.

Construction activities will require ramp closures. The ramp closures will affect the Lake Road exit during portions of the construction project. Detour routes will be posted at times of closure. Traffic back-ups can be expected and may cause delays.
